Here’s a bit more about the faces you’ll see (and those working behind the scenes) when you bring your vehicle to us.
Andy Harris
Director & Senior Technician
Andy, one of our directors, has been a part of Jim Litchfield Motor Engineers since 2009, bringing a wealth of knowledge and over 40 years of experience to the team. As a qualified motor technician since 1980, an MOT tester and a member of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI)
A true gadget enthusiast, Andy is never without his trusty torch, ready for any task. When not at the garage, he enjoys spending time with his dogs and is passionate about big cars, especially his cherished Corvette Stingray C3 (though the dogs might not get a ride in that one!). Due to recent health issues, Andy manages some of the garage’s administrative tasks from his home in East Sussex, staying connected and supportive of the team every day.
Chris Harris
Director & Workshop Manager
Chris, also a director, has been with the business since 2010, taking on the role of Workshop Manager and overseeing the day-to-day running of the garage. As a fully qualified motor technician, MOT tester and IMI member, Chris leads the team with a hands-on approach, specialising in diagnostics, electrics and fabrication. Chris is passionate about engine work and enjoys rebuilding and converting engines – especially his beloved VW Jetta Mk2, which is currently on its third engine rebuild.
With a strong focus on quality and efficiency, Chris manages the team’s workload and ensures that every job meets our high standards. He is also dedicated to developing the skills of our team members, creating a supportive and dynamic environment in the workshop.
Liam Kemp
Vehicle Technician
Liam has been with Jim Litchfield Motor Engineers since 2014 and is a fully qualified motor technician. Known as our top service mechanic, Liam works on everything from 4x4s and SUVs to vans and larger vehicles in the service pit, making him a go-to for any complex service work.
Liam brings energy and enthusiasm to the team and is known for his early mornings by the lake, indulging in his love for fishing before starting his day at the garage. His dedication to service excellence and attention to detail make him an invaluable part of our team.
Josh Coley
Vehicle Technician
Josh, the newest member of our team, has quickly settled in as a skilled vehicle technician. He carries out a range of servicing and repair work, learning from the experienced team and honing his skills in technical areas like cambelt and clutch replacements. Josh’s eagerness to take on more complex repairs is a testament to his commitment to growth and mastery in the field.
In his spare time, Josh channels his mechanical skills into a unique project – building a ride-on lawn mower, but not for cutting grass; it’s all about drifting! His creativity and enthusiasm add a fresh dynamic to our team.
Louise Harris
Office Manager & Trainee Technician
Louise is the backbone of our office operations, ensuring that all bookings, customer interactions and parts orders run smoothly. She keeps the team organised, handling paperwork and compliance with skill and dedication. Louise recently took on an additional role as a trainee technician, learning quickly from Chris and the rest of the team. You might see her servicing cars, changing tyres or working on diagnostics – she’s a fast learner!
Additionally, Louise has recently become a director of Southborough MOT Centre and has completed her qualification as an authorised examiner principal. Her dedication and versatility make her an essential part of both the workshop and the office.
John Standen
Well-Missed Director and Mentor
John Standen was not only a director at Jim Litchfield Motor Engineers, but also a guiding force and a cherished mentor to everyone on the team. Known for his expertise, kindness and unwavering commitment to the highest standards, John helped shape the garage into the trusted, family-run business it is today. His knowledge, sense of humour and dedication left an indelible mark on the workshop and his legacy lives on through the team he inspired.
John’s contributions and spirit continue to guide us and he is deeply missed by both his colleagues and customers.
